Volunteer Marianne Haver Hill is an active volunteer in the Valley area. She is on the board of the Community Foundation of the Valleys, the Valley Economic Alliance where she chairs its Livable and Sustainable Communities Committee, and the Los Angeles County Business Federation where she co-chairs its Anti-Poverty Committee. For 29 years until 2016, she was the president and chief executive of MEND – Meet Each Need with Dignity, which was named the 2012 California Nonprofit of the Year by the governor’s office. She received the California Association of Nonprofit’s Excellence in Leadership Award, the Center for Nonprofit Management’s Nonprofit Leadership Impact Award, and the Valley Economic Alliance’s “Star of our Valley” award, among other honors. BEST ADVICE: Remember that when you have to talk to a staff member about a touchy matter, employees are more resilient than you think.
