Valley Community Healthcare During the last year, Paula Wilson worked to keep Valley Community Healthcare ahead of the COVID-19 curve. The nonprofit had more than 94,000 patient visits during the pandemic, of which 57,500 were virtual. Before her appointment as chief executive in 2004, she had a 25-year career with the organization. In recent years, she has opened a North Hills Wellness Center in 2015 and the Student Health Center at Los Angeles Valley College two years ago. She received a Business Journal Women in Business award in 2009. ALMA MATER: University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash. BEST ADVICE: “Pay attention to the white space in your design,” from my graphic design professor. Meaning: In the business of life, don’t lose sight of the simple things, they often are the most beautiful. This was especially true for me last year! FAVORITE BOOK: “The Signature of All Things” by Elizabeth Gilbert. BUCKET LIST: I need a bigger bucket!
