Los Angeles City Council John Lee was first elected to the Los Angeles City Council during a special election in August 2019 and re-elected to his first full term in March 2020. A resident of the 12th District, Lee has been serving the community as a nonprofit volunteer and public servant since middle school. He is now chair of the Arts, Parks, Health, Education and Neighborhoods committee, vice chair of the Public Works committee and a member of the Housing, and Trade, Travel and Tourism committees. ALMA MATER: California State University – Northridge. BEST ADVICE: From dad: To effectuate real change, you need to do it from the inside. From mom: Smile. FAVORITE BOOK: “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. BUCKET LIST: After retirement, my wife and I want to travel and spend time living in a different country. We want to be immersed in a different culture and hopefully learn a new language!
