ROBERT HERTZBERG

GOVERNMENT

California State Senate Robert Hertzberg is the Senate Majority Leader in Sacramento. He represents the 18th District, which includes much of the San Fernando Valley. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, his office created “Virus and the Valley,” an e-newsletter. Hertzberg was first elected the California State Assembly in 1996 and served as Speaker of the Assembly. After his tenure as speaker, Hertzberg worked at the law firm Mayer Brown and co-launched a company that produced inexpensive, lightweight solar panels. In 2014, he returned to electoral politics at the state level. BEST ADVICE: There is no such thing as failure. It is simply a lesson to be learned to take the next step. FAVORITE BOOK: “The Origins of Political Order” by Francis Fukuyama. BUCKET LIST: To use the lessons that I have learned through my extraordinary time on this planet, and to continue to gain wisdom, and pass those lessons to the next generation.
