California Assembly Laura Friedman in 2016 was elected to represent the 43rd District, which includes Glendale, Burbank, La CañadaFlintridge and portions of Los Angeles. Friedman last year was appointed to chair the Assembly Committee on Transportation. The committee oversees high-speed rail, the state’s roads and transportation infrastructure as well as the Department of Motor Vehicles. Friedman’s priorities include investment in mass transit, zero-emission vehicles and road safety. She formerly worked as a film and television executive. She began her political career in 2009 on the Glendale City Council and later served as mayor. She owns, a website and business focused on mid-century modernist art glass and jewelry. BEST ADVICE: It’s better to regret failing at something you tried than to regret not trying something because you were afraid to fail.
